Color Conversation

Build your color confidence! Do you struggle with choosing the right fabrics for your quilt? Learn all the best tips and tricks from Fern!

In this workshop, students will explore the power of color and value and how they work to create dynamic patchwork designs. Using a simple but eye-opening process, you’ll learn how light, medium, and dark fabrics work together to create contrast, movement, and visual interest in your quilts.

We’ll begin by selecting fabrics that range from light to dark, then sort them using both the naked eye and black-and-white photos to better understand value relationships. Once your palette is set, you’ll create a series of blocks that we’ll cut, swap, and rearrange. Creating the blocks is also a skill-building exercise with lots of tips and practice built into the class.
