Beginner Cross Stitching – For Kids and Caregivers

NOTE: This workshop listing includes one child and one adult. Please select the design of your choice during checkout: pumpkin, snowman, flower, or football. After selecting your cross stitch design, enter your first name and the child's first name and age in the Attendee's Name field.

Looking for a cozy, screen-free, creative way to spend time together over the Thanksgiving break? Join Vivian as she walks you through the basics of cross stitching in this special two-hour beginner class designed especially for children and their caregiver!

In this hands-on class, you’ll learn everything you need to know to get started with this currently trending hobby at home:

how to read a counted cross stitch pattern
how to prepare your fabric for stitching in a hoop
how to manage 6-strand embroidery floss so it doesn't tangle

All levels of experience are welcome, from seasoned stitchers to those who have never threaded a needle before. All materials are included so you’ll leave with your own stitching starter kit: needle, needle threader, embroidery hoop, fabric, a complete set of threads to complete your chosen pattern, and more.

Vivian will also show you how to frame your finished piece in a card. This makes the perfect gift for a loved one during the holiday season.

CANCELLATION POLICY:

Classes taught by local teachers can be cancelled up to 72 hours in advance of the class date for a store credit. Unfortunately, we are unable to give store credit for classes cancelled after that point.
Classes taught by out-of-town teachers can be cancelled up to 30 days in advance for a store credit.
If you cannot attend, sending a friend in your place is completely acceptable and encouraged.
For classes cancelled by The Cotton Patch a refund (or store credit if you prefer) will be issued for the class fee.

Instructor:	Vivian Gallagher
Instructor Bio:	Vivian Gallagher is always doing one of two things: teaching or creating. Besides sewing, topics she has taught (and is happy to talk your ear off about) include Shakespeare, the basics of the Korean language, and the differences between using melted or softened butter when baking chocolate chip cookies. As for creating, between her two children under five and her varied hobbies (which include quilting, baking, cross-stitching, 1000+ piece puzzles, home DIY, and cat watching) she has approximately 5,000 unfinished projects at any given moment. Vivian currently teaches phonics and reading skills at the Active Reading Center in Walnut Creek and has an Etsy storefront for her whimsical creations for children at lucygoosemade.etsy.com.
