Spring Class Schedule April, May, June ‘06

When should I sign up for a class?
Nothing stops a good class or lecture quicker than if everyone waits until the last minute to register. We ask our customers to please enroll in a class at their earliest convenience. If you do not sign up at least three to four weeks in advance the class may be full and you will be disappointed. Each class is assigned a minimum number of enrolled students. If we do not have the minimum number of students enrolled by the assigned date, the class must be canceled. If you wait too long the class may be full or you might have been the one person we needed to meet the minimum enrollment.

Registration Procedure
Class sign-ups are taken in the store or over the phone. If you sign up over the phone, please send us a stamped self-addressed envelope and we will send you your receipt and the class supply list.

Cancellations
Should you have to cancel, please notify us 48 hours prior to class and you will be issued a store credit. If we cancel the class, you will receive a refund or a store credit.

Shop Talk

This flyer is filled with wonderful things! Great classes, great teachers, great events! We have some very special teachers coming for the first time and some repeat teachers who travel the circuit. Please consider taking one of these exceptional classes. Our local teachers are very special as well. They give their very best to make their classes a learning experience you will carry on for a lifetime. It is also a special time to meet other quilters and develop new friendships.

Our next event is with Julie Silber, partner of The Quilt Complex. Julie is known for her expertise in dating quilts prior to 1950, is the past curator of the Esprit Quilt collection in San Francisco, and is very knowledgeable on the subject of quilts! Be sure to sign up for her lecture and appraisals on April 29th and 30th!

Those of you who missed our Sweetheart Auction on February 5th really missed a fantastic time! The auctioneers (Alex Anderson and yours truly) did a great job–if I do say so myself! We auctioned off 80 items including sample quilts from my collection and store samples of patterns or kits. Some were tops, pillowcases, aprons, tablerunners and all proceeds went for a very worthy cause–The San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles. We laughed, visited, told stories and had the best time while bringing in $3,400 for the museum, which is the oldest quilt museum in the US. Thank you to everyone who participated. If you missed the event and would like to become a museum member or send a donation, here is the information:

Batik Club
If you love batik fabrics, join The Cotton Patch Batik club. Each month four of the newest fabrics are selected for club members only (they will not be available in the shop). The cost is $26 per month for four (1/2) yard cuts, which will be shipped to you free of charge. What a wonderful way to build a stash of these fabulous fabrics. Come to the shop or call us to join!

Help Lafayette Raise Funds for a New Police Dog
Noah, Lafayette’s Police Service Dog, was forced to retire due to medical problems. Over the past 3 1/2 years, Noah was deployed over 1,100 times; was used for over 80 narcotic sniffs that resulted in arrests, involved in 73 searches for adults and children; was used to stop over 20 assaults on officers and participated in over 50 demonstrations for the community.

Help raise the funds for a new police dog by bringing your empty thread spools to The Cotton Patch during the month of May. We will donate 10 cents to the Police Dog fund for every spool received and we will donate the spools to the local elementary schools for crafts. You will receive 10% off your purchase of fabric, books and notions that day!

The Lafayette Police Department is currently accepting donations for the purchase, care and training of a new service dog. Donations in any amount can be made to:

Lafayette K-9 Fund
3460 Mt. Diablo Blvd.
Lafayette, CA 94549

For further information call the Lafayette Police Department (925) 283-3680; the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce (925) 284-7404 or send or bring your donation to The Cotton Patch.
